Fat Biking at Col Gallina

Having fun is the best way to get to know a place.
In the summer season and even more in winter, riding along the trails around Rifugio  Col Gallina may become a fun experience, immersed in the wonderful mountainscapes of the Dolomites. How? Fat biking, of course! The new way to explore the mountains of the Ampezzo valley, an alternative to skiing dedicated to those who wish to venture on the trendiest two wheels while enjoying the breathtaking mountain  environment.
Fat bikes were created to ride across the sub-Arctic areas of Alaska and the deserts of New Mexico. Nowadays they have become the trendiest sport, much appreciated by tourists even in the Dolomites around Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Fat bikes differ from  standard mountain bikes for their large and “fat” wheels (70 cm in diameter and 10 cm wide) which allow pedalling at an  even rhythm, while safety is ensured  downhill and better grip uphill.

Raniero Campigotto, manager of the Rifugio and professional  mountain bike instructor provides bike renting service and qualifies to guide beginners and experts alike along a 500m track featuring bumps and parabolic curves at Col Gallina,  2050 m asl, on Passo falzarego. There are plenty of tracks, in and out the test track, leading to panoramic destinations near the Rifugio. Raniero is always available to recommend the best routes and suggest how to get the best of this adventure. Best snow conditions in fact are pivotal to guarantee best “floating” on the surface and enjoy your fat bike experience at the utmost
